Dr. Frank Burtnett, founder and president of Education Now, is a lifelong counselor, educator and administrator. He began his career as a teacher, counselor and administrator with the Fairfax County Public Schools of Virginia. After an active tenure as a state (Pennsylvania) consultant for student services, he moved into a rewarding and productive career in the education association world.
As the chief executive officer of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and deputy executive director of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Frank has worked with educators, counselors and human service providers across the nation and in many international settings. His experiences have been varied, having workings in schools, colleges, government, organizations and corporate America.
He is an experienced trainer, researcher and writer and possesses the management skills to assist clients at any stage of the program development process, from planning to design to implementation. His critical eye can help program sponsors identify the "lessons learned" in their endeavors and build upon these positive program elements as they move through the evaluative stages and into the maintenance or institutionalization of their projects.
Throughout his career, Frank has always been a teacher. Serving on the adjunct faculties of George Mason University, Shenandoah University, University of Maine, the University of Virginia and Virginia Polytechnic & State University have allowed him to maintain a formal classroom presence while continuing to actively serve his consulting clients.
Dr. Burtnett holds a Doctor of Education degree in counseling and human development and Master of Arts degree in counseling from George Washington University in Washington, DC. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. He has earned the National Certified Counselor (NCC) and National Certified Career Counselor (NCCC) credentials of the National Board for Certified Counselors and the Master Career Counselor (MCC) certificate of the National Career Development Association. He is a registered counselor (RC2478) in the state of Maine.
